The Black Tie Martini Club
Hi!
this music is Attention Deficit Disorder eclectic. It often tries to be lounge but winds up psychedelic or blues or electronic or even rockabilly.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The Black Tie Martini Club came about when our band, then called Play, couldn't find a guitarist who was versatile enough. So we ventured forth upon Chicago's music scene with Bass, Keys and Drums and a tuxedoed image that hid our blatant disregard for styles or genre.
Now, I'm in Austin and working as a solo artist recording electronic music that tries to not sound electronic (mostly). I'd like to make the Black Tie Martini Club into a collective with every manner of instrument available to play all manner of music. Wanna be in a band? Email me.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We tried playing dead but the patchouli was overwhelming.

The influences are many and varied. Some are:
Esquivel, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Rev. Horton Heat, Black Keys, Muddy Waters, Cal Tjader, Herb Alpert, Burt Bacharach, The Beach Boys, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Louis Prima, The Clash, Hank Williams, Billy May, Wayne Hancock, etc.
What equipment do you use?
I record using Cakewalk's Sonar. The Bass, Vocals and Guitar are real instruments, everything else is a soundfont.
