The Start
Robert Houston II aka Black Pegasus comes straight out of Colorado Springs, CO. Black P
started his solo career after members of his group (F.O.S.) were incarcerated during their tour
in 2001.
Okay lets back up....
After recording a handful of demos Black Pegasus went to Austin, TX (at the SXSW
music conference) with producer BaseJase and hooked up with
Chuck D who played these demos on his radio show "Bring the Noise". Later that year
Black Pegasus embarked on his first album with F.O.S., using a quote from
Chuck D " F.O.S. These Kids are Hot", to lead the album off.
Professional Pavement Pounders
Black Pegasus invented the "hip-hop night" in central Colorado in 2000 and 2001, doing shows
for ten people or one- hundred, eventually building a fan base that is the biggest for any
rap artist in Colorado. Black Pegasus averages four-hundred to six-hundred people a show,
as tracked on the Pollstar. Black Pegasus frequently opens up for national acts and
promotes his own shows on a consistent basis
Sexy Video Killah
2001 Black Pegasus released Sexy Video Killah EP which put the spotlight on him as a solo
artist. In 2003 he followed up with "My Album Ain't Done Yet" which is hottest selling album
by a local artist in Colorado to date.
MTV and Acclaim NBA Jams 2
In 2002 Black Pegasus found himself in the regional spotlight with national airplay, by way of
MTV's Road Rules TV show. Black Pegasus' music is playing daily on Road Rules and Real
World on MTV, thanks to the company Bunim-Murray. In 2003 Acclaim licensed music from
Black Pegasus for use on their NBA Jams 2 video game which is heard globally.
Jay Z Roc the Mic
2003 Black Pegasus wins every major battle in Colorado, and ultimately finding himself on
stage with Jay-Z in front of 20,000 people as one of the finalist at the "Roc the Mic" battle in
Denver.
Future
Black Pegasus is working on his new album "Can't Spell Crap without Rap" due out in summer
of 2004.
