The Window Song The Window Song
A simple ballad recorded live in the studio. This version features congas rather than drums

Grandmother Song Grandmother Song
Starting quietly, the song is built around a continuously descending melody which resolves into a very dense ending

Recorded live in the studio with a couple of AKG mics. A simple, laid back song, and one of our personal favorites.I
The Black House was formed in late 2005 and has been performing live since early 2006.
The Black House is a four-piece band but occasionally feature a percussionist as well as a a drummer. They play a kind of dark acoustic folk rock that isn't really traditional rock or traditional folk - or, for that matter, uniquely acoustic. All members of The Black House have performed in punk, rock and garage bands and see the music they play today as a logical progression of that. The music is dark, thoughtful and good.
They would describe themselves as a kind of dark lounge band, but this confuses too many people. They don't play easy listening music thats for sure. The idea of the lounge band is the setting. A band that plays in a lounge, an old fashioned lounge, somewhere you sit late at night amidst the cigarette smoke drinking your bourbon, telling the bartender to make it one for your baby and one for the road while a band dressed in black and red sit in the corner and play a few tunes easy and low.
Or maybe its just a new take on an old idea, music and words that you have to listen to, that relax you some times and make you think at other times.
The songs are a collection of well-chosen covers and thoughtful originals all performed with an assured easy-going feel that makes the listener feel right at home.
