That Boy Needs Therapy

Hello and welcome to our sound click page, I hope that you enjoy our music/site should you have stumbled upon it!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
...Our somewhat brief history A long time ago, there was a band named Chaos Engine, the band consisted of Skit (our rather spanking drummer), Stanton (on bass), turner (gormless one note rhythm guitar comedian)( don't get me wrong he is a top lad just like I sed comedy on the guitar) and AJ (Vocals / guitar), AJ was (or more like thought he was) the founder and leader of the band. He was also under the deluded impression that his talent out did others which as you will know if you have ever heard him, doesn't. Basically AJ was a c*ck and none of the other members cared for him much. After Chaos engine played there infamous only gig at the chequers, which was indeed a class night out, the band decided to split, in the words of one man who was in the chequers that night "what the f**k was the landlord thinking" Skit and Stanton decided to join another band called "All About Frank" this band was also diabolically poor so Stanton and skit left, "all about frank" then developed into what are today called "neighbourhood watch" (only one original member remains) and they have played many more gigs than us at places such as corp, and also gave us the label "funky neo jazz" nice one Dicky. Anyways our little skit was in great despair by now he wanted to be in a band and he was good enough but there were very few people in our year at school that actually played guitar and even less that play bass, plus skit wanted to play something a bit different to what every one else was playing at the time. Anyways by this time I had just started getting into Foo Fighters and Nirvana, I had liked Metallica for a while . I sat next to skit in most lessons and was winning his friendship by telling him amusing stories about (cencored, due to parents:). skit only knew me at this time as a dance fan and didn't talk to me much about music. I had been walking to school with Woz for about 4 years and knew him a bit before that. We always walked to school and talked about how much we loved dance music and how rock was crap. Woz had been playing bass for about 6 months on and off and was quite good, I had been playing guitar for 3 years and was still quite Bad cos I didn't really like rock. So one journey on the bus to school after having a music debate, me skit and Woz got together to have a practice, it was ok but we all had different tastes in music and couldn't play very well as a band. We didn't have a name and we pretty much sucked. So we had to get better, but could we be arsed, No. Then miraculously (nout to do with skit) me and Woz started to like Red Hot Chili Peppers, As skit was already a big fan we decided to make our ideas go more the way of funk, which is when we started to play together well. We decided upon the name That Boy Needs Therapy after hearing 'Frontier Psychiatrist' by the avalanches. so with a name and two songs on the way we just kept practising and writing more songs. after about two months of practising together about once or twice a week, we were starting to get better and we only had 4 songs but we played them well. anyways an offer for a gig came up from Nick Back and we took it. we had wrote 6 songs by the time of the gig and we played for about 20 mins, superb, we had been musically christened. Well, thats about it. See our site to see where we have gone from there.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
we do play live, although we've only played live a few times as we are fairly new. Its been all local gigs (sheffield/ Chesterfield area) At school, pubs and woz's living room! we've got some slightly larger gigs lined up though.
Your musical influences
we really love Red Hot Chili Peppers and they are pretty much our main influence. we are strange in the fact that the guitar plays fairly repeatative riffs n chords and the bass and vocals really carry the melody. we have been descirbed as Neo-Jazz (whatever that is?) but i would say we are funk/Rock/Jazz/soft rock sort of mushed together
What equipment do you use?
Josh - Ibanez sa series guitar but with glued neck and pearl outline, line 6 flextone plus Woz - fender jazz bass (mexican), hartke amp (don't know model) Skit - Premier drum kit, remo pinstripe skins, Stagg 10" splash (sex cymbol)
