Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
As mentioned above, we've been rapping separately and together for many years, and have recorded a number of tracks in our spare time over the years.
In summer 2004, we released Raw Talent, our first formal project, which was a primitive 11 song demo.
Over the school year leading up to summer 2005, we worked on our next project, Raw Talent Vol. 2: Let Them Cheer, which never really had a formal release.
Since then, we've added a producer named CBlock who we also go way back with. We've been experimenting with different styles and sounds for the past couple years with scattered unreleased tracks here and there. Our next project Raw Talent Vol.3 should be released by the end of summer 2008.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
TP is a Virginia based group, however our roots span the U.S. and the globe. Rude Jude currently resides in Farmville, Rust is in Newport News, and CBlock is in Blacksburg.
As far as special moments, probably just kickin freestyles in our parents' basements back in the day. Also, Rude Jude has done shows with other artists and groups at Longwood University in Farmville.
Your musical influences
The greats. Jay-Z, Nas, Biggie, 2pac, and most recently Mobb Deep. The unknown kings Big L and Big Pun. Individually, Jude likes groups with unique style, like Bone Thugz or Nappy Roots. Rusty is more into the down-to-the-roots type hip hop, like Common, Mos Def, and Talib Kweli.
What equipment do you use?
$10 walmart mic, mouse, keyboard. notebook and "mode pen".
