Terry Fernihough

I am of the belief that music is about ideas more than it is about technical prowess on an instrument. As a bass player, I sometimes find it difficult to explain what I want to other musicians. I started using Band In A Box for that reason. It made it possible to do rough "work tapes" of my songs to share with artists and other musicians. I managed to get several cuts because of these rough demos. EVERY song I have demoed using Band In A Box 2014 with Real Tracks has been put on hold, and some have been cut. One of these, I'll Bring The Party was cut by Teagan Littlechief, and as of September 2015, is Number One on the National Aboriginal chart.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I play live occasionally, with the band Lost Colt, or on my own accompanied by one or two other people. I've opened for Sean Hogan and Jason Kirkness, and performed at Tin Pan North twice.
Your musical influences
Influences: John Hiatt, Steve Earle, Cheap Trick, The Cars, Garth Brooks, Carolyn Dawn Johnson. Anything with a strong hook, and well written lyrics.
What equipment do you use?
I am a proud endorsee of PG Music's Band In A Box. In terms of software, I also use Mixcraft 7 as my primary DAW, ToonTracks EZ Drummer for occasional drum parts, and various VST plug ins. I use M-Audio interfaces, a variety of condenser mics, and various guitars and basses, depending on what I am doing.
Anything else?
I'm not a guitarist, or a keyboardist. I'm a bass player. My technical abilities on other instruments is lacking, but music is about ideas, and I have lots of those. I sometimes put some rhythym guitar on my recordings, as well as the vocals of course.
