Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Listen to one track off of Tempus Lie Like We Do (Euphonious Records), and you wont believe that the band members were just 17 when they wrote and recorded it. In the spring of 2001, best friends Chris Harvey and Jose Rosario decided to turn their after-school jam sessions into something more serious. After several weeks of auditions, John Appleton signed on as the bands bassist. Tempus recorded a four-song demo in Chris basement and were immediately contacted by Euphonious Records. Days after their high school graduation, the boys packed their bags and headed to Boston to record their first album.
Having already garnered a sizeable fan base around the tri-state area, Tempus released Lie Like We Do on January 6, 2002. Although only 18 years old, they booked several shows at famed venues in New York City, including The Elbow Room, The Lions Den, and Downtime. Audiences instantly connected with Tempus profound lyrics and distinct sound. What especially stood out was their onstage demeanor: They werent trying to be rock stars; they were being themselves - three guys who loved music, and who loved sharing it with anyone who would listen.
An appearance on the cable music network Much Music gave Tempus the national exposure that secured their place as one of the most talented unsigned acts in the country. Unfortunately, soon after Tempus performance was aired, bassist John Appleton left the band. Remaining members Chris and Jose spent the next several months searching for new talent, and found it in bassist Chris MacDonnell, keyboardist Robert Paul and electric guitarist Mike Kaiser.
The guys have spent the last several months sharing ideas and meshing as a band, and are set to record their second album under Euphonious Records in July 2003. It may have taken a while, but their new and improved lineup is now complete and Tempus is officially ready to rock.
