We started back in I think like 1999, maybe 2000... We've all been friends since about 1997 or so. I, (Bob Zigga) decided in my freshman year of high school that I wanted to take rap seriously and make it a career. My friend Kevin didn't take it that seriously because he had no idea I could rap. Anywho... I got together with Phenom and my boy Tank and we would sit outside his apartment and freestyle all day and night and one day a guy heard us on the block and thought we sounded good. So we started going to Money's house and he got a stereo system and a microphone and a bunch of cassettes (yeah, those were the days) and we would freestyle over "industry" beats. at the time it was just Myself and Phenom... Well, Nova stayed over Money and his aunt was complaining about the noise coming from his apartment and sent Nova downstairs to tell us to turn the music down... He ended up listening to us and thought we were dope and he started rapping with us. it was crazy because I wasn't expecting to gain a whole group of MCs and things were almost as if it was our destiny to do this together. Anyway as time progressed we started writing our own songs but had no original music behind it, and nobody in the group was working... well I was, but I didn't make enough money to even consider looking for a beat maker. I played the piano and I played the tuba and trombone in my school band so I figured as much as I love playing music it shouldn't be hard to make original music. So I heard about this game on the Playstation (the 1st one, lol) called MTV's Music Generator from my boy Wattz at school (later I found out he was best friends with Phenom) and I got it and it started off hard because all I could do was techno beats. I got with Wattz and he showed me how to make Hip Hop beats and I worked on that for a while. During that time Phenom told me about our mutual friend Sketch (Scott Bird) and we agreed he would be a great addition to the group. Now we started off as The Invadaz because we felt we would invade the game with our music. We later all agreed that was a bit cheesy especially since the Hip Hop world began to get a little more aggressive with the lyricism and beats. I already had the name Team Blue in mind, but as just a label name but we later adopted it (actually I started saying it and it caught on with the rest of the guys). Money moved out of the apartment and into his own house so we didn't have anywhere to record, so we didn't make music for a while. Eventually we got back at it because Young is a techie and got a new mini disk player. Our friend Fatty (L.F.D.Y.) had one too and we figured a way to Karaoke the 2 devises and make music. Me, Young and Fatty would record songs in the band room and I found out that our friend Joka was making mixtapes at his house, so I started going to his house to record and make beats. And we've been working with him ever since. Anyway, we put out a mixtape in 2003 which was pretty much a self titled project, but we didn't really put it out because it was thrown together but a few years later we realized it was exactly what we wanted it to sound like, lol. Years roll by... Time flies, and we didn't make music collectively for about 3 years, everybody pretty much doing their own thing and we would get together every now and then to do something. Phenom and C. Wattz had their thing, Me, Scott and Nov would do songs occasionally but I was mainly focused on being Joka and the Houstunnaz's producer. After a 2 year hiatus, I got back together with Phenom and I did a couple shows on my own, then I got a hold of the rest of the guys to put Team Blue on the ticket. We also added C. Watts and Fatty to the group as MCs and additional producers. We began working on The Blue Files which is coming soon, it is a compilation of our music and people we work with. Today, the group consists of Bob Zigga, Phenom Da Emcee, Scott Bird, Nova and C. Wattz. Zigga, Wattz and Fatty are all actively producing for Team Blue and Live Fast Die Young and that's somewhat about all .Have you performed in front of an audience?I wish we did!! I am actually trying to get a live band together so when we do shows it can be live. I can play some instruments, I have friends that play instruments, so it shouldn't be hard to do.
Your musical influences
We are influenced by everything, most modern hip hop, but mainly more of the 80s and 90s hip hop. We have hints of Jazz, Blues, Rock&Roll, etc. in our music. There's a long list of influences amongst the group and most importantly, we draw inspiration from one another (no homo, lol)What equipment do you use?
We do all of our music on Macs... I have a Mac mini in which I use Garage Band and Logic... Wattz uses Reason on his iMac, and Fatty has a Rolland keyboard. We record on Pro ToolsAnything else?
Yeah, check us out and we hope you enjoy the music!!! Please feel free to provide any and all feedback whether it's you like it or if you hate it. We are open and very appreciative of all criticism, questions, comments or suggestions... whatever you know or think you know that might help us grow because we are all dedicated to perfecting and expanding our craft, and our main objective is to reach the masses with our message (whatever that may be, lol).Contact
