Band/artist history
I lost one of the best jobs I have ever had (behind bullshit), I was unemployed for the first time in my life, and I felt like I lost control of my whole situation. (But as the old saying goes...."EVERYTHING" happens for a REASON!!) I ended up choppin' it up with my best friend Lomenshia "Mimi" Pastran (Me and her go bacc 2 tha 10th grade), and she asked did I still rap. (Cuz in school, while dudes were beatin' on tha bleachers with pencils and brushes, I was one of the few females that would attempt to freestyle on tha mic). At that time, I never considered doing it as a CAREER, even though I always wrote raps and poetry as an OUTLET. I used to work @ TDC as a CO and used to be on the Cell block rows with inmates flowin' and wildin', every now and then I would do open mics at Tommy's off of Greens Rd (N. Side) or I would hit up Breakers(Southwest) on Talent night, just because I wanted the shit I wrote to be heard, and just to keep it real, I liked attention too. Okay, bacc to tha script, so my bestfriend, ask me to hear some songs, that I wrote and after I spit for her she's like, "T, you got it MA. You gone rap and I'm gone be your MANAGER." At first I'm just goin' through tha motions, I heard her, but I wasn't just taking it literally. But she has a real business and organized nature, she started making plans and goal list and my first project was 2 get my demo completed. We met up with Producers, purchased traccs, HUSTLED for every dime we needed from street performances, to plate sales, car washes, garage sales. We did everything but slang dope and sell pussy. Thatz real talk! We finally found a studio, put down my demo, threw my "album" (lol-if you call 4 traccs and a snippet an album) release party/Ghetto Fame Night and it was a success.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Right now, I play locally in Houston, open mic nights, event invites, on the North, South, and the West. I love doin' live performances, I always get a lil nervous before a show, but that's a natural reaction.
Your musical influences
Eve (First Lady of the Ruff Riders), Salt and Peppa, 2 Pac, Slim Shady, Nas, TI, Jay-Z. Every song that I ever heard where the words and content were so REAL, that I felt like the artist peeked into my life for a minute. My mom influenced me by giving me my work ethics, and no offense to my T cuz I love her to death, (she so down for her fam) but she also showed me what NOT 2 do. I refuse to hold down 3 jobs, and have to work all my life to barely make ends meet, those actions influenced me to use my gifts and make a better situation for me and my child without punchin' in on a clocc for the rest of my life, There has got to be a better way. The people that are older and tell me, DON'T GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS, BECUZ YOU DON'T WANT TO BE MY AGE AND HAVE REGRETS, THEY Influence me to get it. The Great ONES, Stevie Wonder, Jimmy Hendrix, Ray Charles, Pattie LaBell, Beyonce', the people just didn't make MUSIC, they made HISTORY, they made a DIFFERENCE, they CHANGED THA GAME.
What equipment do you use?
1 Mic
