TASSILO MARTIN is an experimental guitarplayer and composer. His music has a range from ambient guitar romantic, to very strong industrial textures and complex beat-structures. Creating improvised music on the fly for several visual artists in munich, germany, he now settled down in Portugal, to work on different releases on his own label, symmetricmusic.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Tassilo Martin, born in 1978, started learning to play the piano in the age of 8. Autodidactically he learned to play the guitar which is now his main instrument. After playing in two bands, he was looking for a possibillity to play independently from others.
Influenced by Brian Eno he started experimenting with computers and different guitar looping-gear.
He found that this was the best way to create music allone which could as well be realised live.
To give a visual component to his improvised loop-scaping, he worked with several painters and visual artists together adding music to their vernisages and even short movies.
In 2003 he immigrated to Portugal where he is now working on the modification of his systems and is producing improvised music on cd. Recently he is discovering the possibillities of 3D Animation, to offer his music on DVD.
