Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
.. Starting out at a young age, Michael"TALLMIKE" Riddick has been writing lyrics since an adolescent. Representin' West Memphis aka Westown, he was born in North Carolina but moved to Baltimore when he was three years old.he didnt find his interest in music until he was fascinated with da sounds the Memphis underground hip hop scene. That particular scene left him with the ambition and determination to try it himself. After leaving college in 1994 , he decided to move to Minnesota for a new start, by networking he created connections thruout the local hip hop scene in Minneapolis. In the 2000, Tallmike and his home boy Drastic (from Flint,mich.) decided to start a group entitled "Raw Island". Together they dropped an EP self titled "Raw Island". Performances were held at the Lab in St. paul and Club metro as well. Although Drastic decided to call it quits, Tallmike's ambition would'nt allow him to stop. By connecting with Phattrax out of Detroit ,Tallmike recorded his first album entitled" MEMPHIS 10" which included ten super banging tracks. The ablum sold a mere 1000 copies out da trunk..Later in his struggle to make it,Tallmike made a power move and became affiliated with TRipple sul Ent. headed by Afro-Preachah. With Tripple sul ,he had a management gruop with his best interst in mind and did a countless amount of shows. Some were here in Minneapolis and some were in Detroit at the St. Andrews Hall downtown Detroit. Even though, Tallmike isnt affiliated with Tripple Sul anymore, hes still on da block cooking up something for da streets.Collaborating with Scam at Survivallist records, Tallmike is determined to make in this shady industry.With his new single called "Woodgrain" the sound is gritty and southern with a hint of Bun B, MJG, and Juvenile.He received is skills listening to Memphis' underground hip hop scene which consisted of 3-6 mafia, Kingpin Skinny pimp,Gangsta black,Gangsta Pat, Dj Sqeeky,Tomski, Criminal manne to name a few. All of which were his influences in this whole world of music.Now that hes older (30 years old) hes focused and ready to continue his journey to the top. Until then stay tuned for the new album from Tallmike which has'nt been titled yet., but will be super banging trust me.
