TALEGATE
The Talegate Boyz are a tribe of their own. Made up from 3 brothers Rodney, Ricky & Shawn Hobbs and (brother by Talegate blood) Sean Peacock. The brotherhood that Talegate has is very strong and it shows through the music. Talegate was formed in April 1995 and has come a long way and just keep reaching further. Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The Talegate boys are a tribe of their own. Made up of three brothers; Rodney, Ricky & Shawn Hobbs, and (brother by Talegate Blood) Sean Peacock. The Hobbs family and the Peacock family have been around each other for years. David Peacock (Sean’s father) and Fred Hobbs (Rodney, Ricky & Shawn’s father) have played music together since the Talegate Boys were in diapers. Talegate was formed in April,1995, when the "Hobbs Boys" wanted to expand their roots from being a "Metallica cover band" and start writing original heavy-metal style music, as well as keep jammin’ with their father in another band called "The Hobbs Band". Sean Peacock fit the puzzle and made Talegate whole with his original style guitar rhythms and song writing techniques. Peacock has also been around the music business for years following his father and his older brother Dave Peacock. Sean helped his brother on the road with a number of bands that Dave was singing for including Pantera (yes Dave Peacock was the second of five singers to be in Pantera). Together Talegate has come a long way and only aim to keep going. Being brothers has helped them overcome hardships of life
that would only break up most other bands.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Talegate has played more than 100 venues including clubs, showcases, contests, lakes and festivals as well as numerous parties. Our best show so far was our CD Release Party. We played in a huge club and the croud was so packed that it was standing room only. The clubowners were so impressed that they paid us double the amount agreed on.
Your musical influences
Talegate has a wide variety of influences such as Metalica, Kiss, Korn, Ozzy, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Creed, Mozart, and plenty of others.
What equipment do you use?
We like to keep our equipment basic and add a little effect. Marshall cabs, digital effects, clean bass, and Tama Drums.
