SystemATA
SystemATA Productions - based in Yorkshire in the north of England - is Paul Makey aka SystemATA. Forging his own brand of hip hop for nearly 10 years, firstly with involvment in the Creation of Musical Soldiers (paying more than a little homage to Public Enemy) followed by his involvment in P.U.M.A. (Pure Uncut Mic Action, one of few crews to have ever come out of Hull!), the SystemATA sound is of the dark and moody variety. Having churned out quite a few remixes over the past couple of years, garnering some recognition thru a couple of plays on ITCH FM and a little bit of respect gained from the first two UKHH remix competitions, SystemATA is hoping to expand upon his remixing skills and provide beats to some of the lesser known, but upcoming artists, based in the UK.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
See the introduction..
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
No, have come close to it in the past but have never done so...
Your musical influences
The music which moves me at the moment comes from the likes of Braintax, Jehst, MUD Family, Phi Life Cypher, Blade, my earlier influences are a lot more raw, including Gunshot, Hijack, Hardnoise/Son Of Noise - and American artists such as Public Enemy, Ice-T, NWA, Gang Starr, ATCQ
What equipment do you use?
Sequencing is done on Cubase, using Reason as a plug-in (for beats and samples). I also use my SL12s and Numark mixer, but not as much as I'd like..
