Swimming With Pandas
Swimming With Pandas were a workers-cooperative of aspiring Brierley Hill fruit-pickers who named their band after their favourite hobby. Full of loathing and hurt after discovering a distinct lack of pandas in the deep end of Coseley baths they turned instead to making music.
Rejecting traditional concepts of melody, lyricism, and musicianship their early recordings (some of which are featured here) showed all the energy and imagination that would later see them go on to do a world tour of Wordsley Green.
Where are they now? Lead singer Chaz Richards is hiding discreetly within the British Civil Service dressed as a panda and hoping to compete in the 400m freestyle at London 2012. Guitarist and songwriter Milton Xanadu is collecting antelopes in the hope of flying one from East Midlands airport. Bass player Kram Notlaw who doesn't actually appear on the songs is still saving up for a bass. Guest rapper MC Mikey P was last seen tying knots in the secluded villages of rural Warwickshire
