Hi, we're SweptAway. We were established in Cheyenne Wyoming. We're comprised of local worship leaders and songwriters from various churches.Band/artist history
It is amazing how God raises up certain people, at certain times, to accomplish a specific purpose. Such is the story of SweptAway. SweptAway began as a merging of several friendships. Back in the summer of 1999, Ty, who was working on staff at Camp Maranatha, teamed up with Paul and Taylor for a week of incredible worship. Over the years to follow, this trio would enjoy a lasting friendship as well as many "holy moments" leading worship together. Meanwhile, Ty met Kai at a youth pastors function in Cheyenne and found out that he was a worship leader as well. The two instantly struck up a friendship and after a few weeks were playing together on a regular basis. In October of 2004, Paul decided to take Ty out for a birthday lunch, but little did he know that it would turn into a divine appointment. Through honest conversation, Ty told Paul about this amazing musician that he had met named Kai and suggested that the three of them get together and jam some time. Well, a few days later that jam session came, and from the very first note that was played, all three knew that they were in the midst of something special. Ty, Kai, and Paul started meeting weekly to make music together and encourage one another as pastors, all the while amazed at the tight harmonies, interesting chords, and fantastic songs that were being produced. In early 2005, the band heard about a Battle of the Bands competition that was happening at their favorite coffee shop, The Tivoli, and decided to enter the competion. They won. As a result of the competition the group was encouraged to seek out a bassist and a drummer. This was a no brainer for the group. For a drummer, they looked no further than their friend, Taylor who was eager offer his skill to the band. For a bassist, they looked to Mark, who they had played with a guitarist's jam session several times and were awed by his technical and musical ability. When the fivesome played together for the first time, everyone knew it was on. Since then, SweptAway has been following the leading of God as He continues to open up doors of opportunity and they are blessed every step of the way.Have you performed in front of an audience?Yes, at local churches, and around the surrounding areas like Fort Collins and Denver.
