Supermassive

Supermassive is a completely self-contained machine featuring four musicians, an ungodly inventory of stompboxes, three miles of tangled cords and the ability to produce stylized, accessible songs with an undertone of deviant and fiery improvisation. Over the past year, Supermassive have locked themselves in their sonic research laboratory writing, recording and designing the debut EP you now hold in your hands. Through endless days battling gray skies in Seattle, WA, longtime cohorts and local heavyweights, E$ (vocalist and session drummer), and King Lael (guitarist) continued shaping and fine-tuning their sound. Somebody had to bridge the gap between The Meters and Orbital, jokes E$. With the addition of keyboardist and production guru Big Mac along with bassist and sonic anchor D*Low, the Supermassive lineup was set in motion. Percolating with more chemistry than Nino Browns laboratory, Supermassive set out to press their ideas to wax. The resulting songs feature compact arrangements layered with old school tones, atmospheric soundscapes and a generous dose of nasty low end. Rounding out Supermassives lush sound are E$s soulful, often light-hearted vocals and organic filthy beats. Supermassive has an uncanny ability to morph an infectious, vocal-driven song into an epic instrumental odyssey and back again. Its cool to know people put us in good company, explains E$, Weve had reviews comparing our sound to Funkadelic meets Maroon 5 to Ben Harper meets Critters Buggin. The underlying theme being Supermassives ability to create music that is both accessible to the masses and rewarding to the most discerning of listeners. Overflowing with crossover potential, Supermassives broad appeal has not gone unnoticed. Supermassive has a sound that is completely original yet somehow vaguely familiar, comments Dan Paulus, staffwriter for The Stranger magazine. These guys are diverse enough to be anything from a hit-generating, summer amphitheater act to multimedia sound designers, adds Michael Pettit, producer and engineer, Watermark Multimedia. With a resounding stamp of approval from fans and critics alike the time has come for Supermassive to unleash their newfound sound on the unsuspecting masses. From the craftsmanship of the songs to the design of the Web site and packaging, Supermassive is the proverbial full meal deal. Delicious indeed.
