Are you fed up with going to buy the new album from ur favorite artist, only to find that their beats are now made by a drunk crazy mad man with alot of sound synths..... Are you not feelin all this giggy, bling sh#t......... Do you wonder were the crackle went from hip hop..... Lets take it back to '95!! Sunken Heads are a group from Hackney, comprising of two members. Strobe and 12Milagram. With raw "east coast" beats, and straight out'a London lyrics, fans of the '95 hip hop era will fall in love all over again. KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We love playin live and for us that is at least half of what hip hop is about, freedom of speech and hopefuly makin people stop and think for once. If ur on stage, that half an hour of open ears that want to hear what u got to say. We love makin beats, writing new songs and mixin down material for u to shuk out to but were just as comfortable chattin pure knowledge over some old classics. We try and put alot of effort into our live shows and mix it up a bit each time. A live show should be suttin a little different from ur cds and records, give the crowd suttin to go home and think about. One of or favorite shows to date has to be Fight The Power (the first time round) at the Telegraph in brixton, a benefit gig for the St.Agnus Place community down south who were facing evitction. It was a mile stone for us as we found our selfs playing alongside alot of headline acts, people that we have listend to for years and look up to. The crowd was live all night (as usual in brixton) and it was for a good cause. Other than that i think Off The Back OF a Lorry was another wicked day, held by HQ. It had the feel of an old school block party and despite problems with the sound rig, much fun was had by all...
Your musical influences
The early and mid 90's hip hop are a major influence in our music and rhymes. We grew up in hip hop listening to Wu-Tang: from 36 chambers to Forever, CypressHill: up to Temple of Boom, Moob Deep: the early years, KRSOne, Rakim, O.C. Rasco, M.O.P. Gangstarr. Jeru, Tribe Called Quest, Grand Puba, Black Moon.... U get the idea. U can expect real drums, raw, rare samples, insightful and well written lyrics, imagination and suttin fresh... AND NO SOUND SYNTHS!!!!!!!!!
What equipment do you use?
Were constantly uping our studion but at the moment were running G4 cubase, akai 3000xl, 2000, 2xYamaha 01V desks, Lexicon MPX1 effects, TL valve eq, Technics 1200.......and stacks of dusty records.
