Band/artist history
Born in "Dalhousie, NB" Shane L Jardine aka Raw Sugar was brought up in a home with very little which meant more to appreciate when something came by his way. His parents had him at an early age and in result they had raised him the best way they knew how. There was abuse, there was no support in anything Shane would be enthusiastic about, there was plenty of visits to pawn shops with Shane's stuff, but the biggest thing that impacted him was the fact that they were moving homes every few months.
As his parents would go out and party Shane would be home learining responsibility by watching his little sister at an age that HE himself should have been getting taken care of. From water in cereal, to almost no clothes (which were all secondhand) Shane has been through it.
Bullying was something else that had an effect on Shane's life. At a younger age he was more quiet then anything, so when the other classmates would pick and tease he would take it, up till the day he decided to start standing up for himself. it was then that he realized there's no reason he should be getting bullied and nobody else should either. He then became pretty much like a playground bodyguard so to speak. If he would witness any missmatched confrontations, in the blink of an eye he would be there stepping in.
Age 10 a very important age for Shane. This is the age that he picked up a pen and paper and decided to start writing out his emotions on paper in words that rhyme.as he got older he devolped more and more untill he became the high class artist he is today. By age 14, Shane was kicked out of his home just because of the fact that hip hop/rap was the path he was choosing and his parents couldnt handle knowing that their son would be a part of something they thought was "evil" and un-appropriate. This move forced him to live on the streets and then later he ended up in a variety of foster & group homes.
With the big move out of the city, it was back to his roots for him. He ended up back in Jacquet River (belldune) a small little village if even considered that. He was then attending Dalhousie Regional High school. All throughout school there was rarely a school he would stay at for a full year up till high school. Grade 9 alone which is the first impression year he was in 3 different schools. The 3rd and final one was the one that ultimately shaped him. Dalhousie is also a small town therefore not a lot of hip hop or rap was around. When Shane went up there being himself they judged before knowing which pushed him into a little thing he likes to call "Music iscolation" sounds scary doesnt it? I assure you its not as bad as it sounds...He just basically listened/studied music with any and all of his free time. Lunch breaks, at home, on the bus, no social life.
Grade 10 another very important number. this was the year Shane got into a real recording studio finally after a few years of devolping his craft this was his chance to get the ball rolling. And that he did... He got signed to a local label on the spot and they gave him 1 and 1/2 weeks to complete (write, record, release) a Full length, 16 track album! Impossible you say? Impossible is just a word to Shane, its no real wall or boarder to get in the way, it is only a mere word. He got it done and made a nice debut at the school variety show which led to good sales and took everybody by suprise. suddenly opinions started changing about Shane. the name of the album was "What I Have Become" titled after the track that got him signed to the label. with this release he made papers, and did a few shows to promote it and get some more stage experience.
Grade 11 "The Dawn of a New Era" was released. This album a full year was spent on it to perfect everything. More respect came his way for this 20 cut album. He started sounding older and getting a better voice for his music, and when it was put out it got even more exposure. Newspapers started approaching HIM for interviews left and right, his songs started playing in clubs, and more shows came his way.
Grade 12 He wanted to leave the school with a bang...He wanted his name to be remembered at his graduating school, so what he did was released "U Cant Stop Me" and said everything he wanted to say to them and matured greatly with some nice vibe relatable tracks. From hyped up to dance to funny to story to anything else. Variety is Shane's BIG key. With this album he got approached by the producers of the successfull show "Music is My Life" on Much Music to be on an episode of the series. Due to certain circumstances that did'nt get to happen, however even MORE interviews happened, internet presence went way up as he soared through the soundclick charts which is a website that independant musicians and signed musicians upload their music to for promotional purposes and for download. Shane Also at age 17 broke off from his former label HRS Productions and put together his own studio from working all school year and saving up through gr 11 and 12.
Age 17 Shane had his own label, producing for 6 other artists, website design, graphic design, promoting and booking was all being taken care by him. He went on tour with this album and made some real good contacts. Age 18 was the turnaround age. He moved out on his own and was forced to be put through the rough once again. Street life impacted him GREATLY. Life kicked him while he was down over and over again. Everything taken from him and still he had faith and hope in his music...It was the only thing that kept him going and got him through. He held on tight till he started grinding to get it all back and get on track. Now he is and is ready for what lies ahead of him. He enrolled in berklee's school of music after high school and has been taking a course in "Music Business And Technology" for the past year and will graduate fall 2008 with a Masters certificate in the subject. He now knows what he has to do and is doing it on a totally different level then anybody else. The begining dream will always stay alive for Raw Sugar till he acheives greatness.
Your musical influences
Although I'm a "hip hop/rap" artist most of my musical influences growing up were in the "classic rock" genre. Def Leopard, ACDC, Kiss, Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper, Tom Petty, as far as hip hop/rap influences goes: Big Pun, Ludacris, Eminem (early releases, up till the eminem show), 2pac, Nas, TI, Twista, Kanye West, redman, methodman, Jay Z, Akon, Timbaland many more influences but most are too poetic for alot of people to really care about.
What equipment do you use?

Anything else?
Sugar Warrior has released his own clothing line and went on his own tour by age 17, he's performed along side of some very well known talent and has made some big connections for his new upcoming album "Cave Adsum". It's been almost a full 2 years since "U Cant Stop Me" Sugar Warrior has went through MANY changes and he plans on taking you though these changes with him through his music.
