Substation was created to put some much needed groove at the time into the SouthWestUK and hopefully tickle a few funk glands along the journey!. With their influences based in groove, funk, jazz, reggae, ska, rock & blues; & Dance music - Substations groove was something for all to absorb.
Formed back in 2004 Substation performed initially with Roger Plumtree on vocals but then Roger left to pursue a career up t'north and was replaced by the sexy Sarah 'Smoochie' Humphries . Substation pulled further on their influences to create a tight original set of funky tunes spiced with a few occasional funk covers such as "James Brown", "Sly Stone" ,"The Meters", "Hendrix", "Stevie Wonder" through to Jungle artists the "EZ Rollers" ..... too name but a few!
The Band consisted of "Sarah Smoochie" the Vox, "Roger" Plumtree early Substation Vox, "Neil C" on the Funk plank Guitar, "Milly" blowing the Sax, "Leebo" on the 4 string air craft carrier Bass,"Jon" the Scientist on the mad keys, Residential learning disability "Lewy" on dem Drums, and on special occasions "Gavin" the Djembe man freakin us all out!Band/artist history
