There is truly only 1 constant throughout the history of music that is consistant to every trend, culture, genre, and defining moment of greatness: Change. Far from a deep philosophical concept, the tangibility of change has perhaps never been more apparent than in 21st century America as marketing firms, monolithic record labels, and corporate sponsored branding makes the task of an artist defining himself ever more difficult.

Meet Thesis & Sub-Conscious (Disposition). While following the one formula that can't be written or duplicated they walk the paths of groundbreaking artists such as De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Das EFX, Gangstarr, and Outkast by introducing a truly new sound to Hip Hop in a time when its most needed. The sonic soundscape crafted by Sub-Conscious is as intriguing, and enveloping as it is inspiring when you take into consideration his use of absolutely no samples. This hard left from traditional beat creation in favor of complete and original composition is executed flawlessly and plays to every strength of his rhyme partner Thesis. Extremely capable of holding his own on either side of the booth glass, Sub-Conscious's commanding prescence on tracks further highlights a wealth of talent we're only now seeing the tip of.

Perhaps most striking and immediately noticeable to the average listener is the sheer magnitude of Thesis's writing ability. Coupled with a multi-faceted delivery and charismatic vocal tones, his completeness and polish as an Emcee rivals anyone occupying a microphone booth today. Picking up on literally every subtlety (of which there plenty) in Sub-Conscious's creations, Thesis completely exploits every beat he's handed in exactly the way Sub-Conscious intended. His integrity and validity as a writer is reaffirmed line after line seemlessly echoing the soul of a Talib Kweli, the controlling prescence of a Mike Shenoda, and the charisma of a pop icon.

Disposition not only encompasses the best of underground conciousness and mainstream listenability, they perhaps even more importantly give the listener a truly new perspective on the potential of Hip Hop to continue to push the envelope.
