Band/artist history
Like many bands out there, The Storybook Ending formed when members Matthew Street (lead vocals), Leigh Kerrigan (bass guitar and vocals) and Leon Russell (guitar) met whilst studying at University. The initial three members, who shared a common musical interest, started out playing acoustic shows under the name of False Start.
Their quest to find a drummer began. Meanwhile a fourth member in the shape of Matt's elder brother Paul Street (rhythm guitar and vocals) added another dimension to the band's sound. In
September 03, Phil Birtwhistle (drummer) joined TSE to complete the line up.
All five members of the band are truly passionate about music, regarding it as their life. Their influences are wide ranging, coming from bands such as Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, Silverstein, Zebrahead, Hidden in Plain View, Alexisonfire and finally A Static Lullaby. Ask any one of the members "what would you describe your sound as?" and they would find it difficult to give you an answer. Heavy, yet melodic, delicate and intricate layers of guitar work, along with the dynamics of three vocalists who aren't afraid of showing their emotions, deal with subject matter concerning relationships, nostalgia and alienation. Thus producing a sound that brings together a marriage of emo and post-hardcore.
In the time that the band has been together, they have written a large amount of their own material and have just completed there first e.p entitled Headlights and Heartbreaks (Two Bullets Left One For Love And One To Forget). Plans to return to the studio are already under way. With there explosive live performances TSE hope to gain some respected support slot to gain a bigger fan base (from an already growing one), we hope to see you all soon...
