0 plays
A roots-rock band with a powerful horn section, Stormy Mondays has become the only Spanish band to ever play the Woodstock festival. Its first CD features special guest legend NY singer/songwriter Elliott Murphy. Bruce Springsteen has featured this act before several shows on his latest European tour. Amassing a huge European following through it's Americana/Roots sound, Stormy Mondays has found themselves on stage jamming with the greatest legends of rock including Elliott and Slash from Guns'N Roses.
Band/artist history
The band lined up in Oviedo in 1991. They have just released their first CD, "Rainy Days And Broken Hearts," which features special guest Elliott Murphy on three tracks. In 1992 they grabbed the attention of the media after a jam session with Slash, Guns N'Roses guitarist, who saw them playing and decided to take the stage with them after his concert with Michael Jackson in Oviedo. During the three following years they released several demos. One of their songs was included on the CD Quality Compilation vol.1 (Norte Sur Records, 1996). In 1997 the band stopped touring to begin pre production work for the album, which took the whole Spring and Summer. By Fall, after a brief road test of the material, the band was ready to enter the studio. The album was released on April 15th, 1998. The live premiere was on May 29th, in Oviedo, in a concert with Elliott Murphy.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We play live a lot and we love it! We believe that playing live is the ultimate musical experience. We couldn't live without it! Of course, the most special moment was playing Woodstock '99, at the Emerging Artist Stage. We also have very good memories of our concerts with Elliott Murphy.
