Lyrics
History [2021/07/01] [Opening] HISTORY! [V] Quebec's history is pretty straightforward. A land founded by France. A Frenchmen here told me they taught the Indigenous to dance. [true story] To date Canada's a baby one-fifty-two at this write. Yet, in that time look it up, and you'll find we haven't got everything right. Break [V] With Canada's it's France and the British that morphed into English and French. There's hardly a mention of others who weren't on the sidelines on the bench. The way it's written our histories easy remember a date or two. All other answers come from an English, an English or French point-of-view. [C] History's written by the victors, by men most would agree. Those perceived to be the losers agree to disagree. Cultures have given their lives for whatever you see, hear, and read. History's written by the victors not by folks like you and me. [V] Victors write and re-write their own depending if you're white or not. Others might get a footnote but that's a real long shot. Guess if you're studying Asia's, India's, the Middle East? You might find they've left the white's behind last or maybe least. [C] History's written by the victors, by men most would agree. Those perceived to be the losers agree to disagree. Cultures have given their lives for whatever you see, hear, and read. History's written by the victors not by folks like you and me. [B] World history is kind of deluded depending on who's telling the tale. England was a great nation, wasn't Spain a nation as well? Russia's one massive landmass, even if its population is small. Language aside their white they can't hide, and they've always killed the fly on the wall. [V] There are those who question our histories, those who dig 'till they find. A new tale to tell, before they get hell for trying to change the victor's minds. See history is written by victors, these victors don't want to explain. How they've gotten it wrong, that's the point of this song. Do I have to explain it again? Copyright (c) 2021 by Douglas Murphy www.soundclick.com/dougmurphy doug_murphy6@sympatico.ca
