I wrote this in 1981, then it became a fan fave in my band Innernational Man circa 1982-84 .... It's has a wry, satirical meaning actually and is not a promotion of "Roman" lifestyle but a warning . . . which is found at the end of the choruses... "Do like the Romans do . . . or what they did..." meaning..."what they did" as in they are NOT around anymore.... The "Roman" life just ends up in death....
