Story behind the song
I had just got my fretless bass guitar when I came up with a very odd sliding riff. Gradually the song developed. I asked Kevin Mahan, my jazz multi-instrumental friend, to lay down a flugelhorn track kind of like Miles Davis. Kevin's interpretation, with chromatic scales, is a perfect addition to this spacey tune. Also worth noting, the guitar-like riff is actually my fretted bass strung as a tenor bass a la Victor Wooten. The wild distorted solo is perhaps the first heavy metal fretless bass solo in history. At least that's what I'm claiming.
