Simplistic
I just released my first solo album after two years of working on it. Also, I'm currently playing in the band National Road which is a four-piece acoustic outfit based in Frostburg, Maryland. Several members of the band contributed to the album.
Story behind the song
Written as I was bearing down on turning 40.
Lyrics
“Page by Page”
Music & Lyrics by Eric J. Baker (2010)
Feelin’ kinda lonely, hopin’ that it’s only a phase that I’m going through
No rhyme or reason, trifles and treasons make me wanna come unglued
Come Sunday mornin’ familiar and borin’, nothing’s on the TV screen
A head full of lightning, frequent and frightenin’, damnest thing I’ve ever seen
CHORUS
Tomorrow is another day, creepin’ at its petty pace
You have your time upon the stage, day by day and page by page
Well, ya know it’s always somethin’, head’s been a-thumpin’, blame it on the MTV
Guess I’m gettin’ older, gray on my shoulder; it’s something of a mystery
I want another bottle, my hand on the throttle, take me out to God knows where
Someplace sunny to make a lot of money, mingle on the thoroughfare
CHORUS
BRIDGE
Waiting at the station in quiet desperation
Thinking ‘bout way back when
Left your youth behind ya, tomorrow’s gonna find ya
Going off to work again
INSTRUMENTAL
Yeah, Yeah, read the mornin’ paper, sooner or later, contemplate the day’s events
Daytime drama really makes me wanna trade my dollars in for sense
Candle’s been burnin’, wheel keeps turnin’, never felt this old before
A creepin’ Osiris, a middle-age crisis waiting just behind the door
CHORUS
