Fantasy-themed rock ballads and anthems
Our demo CD "The Dark Before Hope" draws on the work of Tolkien, especially the Lord of the Rings epic. Bethany, lead vocalist and lyricist, is building up a body of songs about other books she was moved by as well--she's a fantasy writer with a penchant to wax eloquent in many forms about literature. Daniel, primary musician and current producer, plays around on his bass and sometimes a guitar to find musical hooks to build more songs around.

Story behind the song
Eugenides is a thief who establishes a queen's throne, outwits her enemies, and generally causes witty mayhem wherever he goes...and then falls into the clutches of a rival queen. Exacting the traditional punishment, she cuts off his right hand. The motif of stealing as a metaphor is particularly acute in "The Queen of Attolia"; probably because (rather than "in spite of") the fact that he is greatly incapacitated physically. This is only the beginning of the story: the rest fans know and other readers should go discover. This is my first lyric for a fandom I ardently support, and I think it turned out almost the way I wanted it--and probably way better for that slight difference.
Lyrics
Queen's Thief, made a cripple Am I going blind, too? What is this life for, that I don't die? They're dying over it out there, and here she comes Steal me peace, steal me time Gods double-cross me An honor I could do without I'm reaching for something Though it took my hand off... Oxe Habrea Sacrus Vax Dragga All I can think of is her cruel face The lips that ordered my fate Let me come in to your Thief We're square, now you've stolen something of mine Stole my peace, my peace of mind Eyes never killing me Why are we here014what do we want? I reached for you With the hand that is gone... Oxe Habrea Sacrus Vax Dragga I can steal anything What if I stole you? From your enemies, stole your throne, too Steal you to peace, Steal you to be mine Oxe Habrea Sacrus Vax Dragga
