Rough Take: Reflective song on the idea of the incarnation of God into a man--a bit more mellow and jazzy than our usual, so slotted into New Age for lack of better ideas. We'll be recording it more formally soon.

Fantasy-themed rock ballads and anthems
Our demo CD "The Dark Before Hope" draws on the work of Tolkien, especially the Lord of the Rings epic. Bethany, lead vocalist and lyricist, is building up a body of songs about other books she was moved by as well--she's a fantasy writer with a penchant to wax eloquent in many forms about literature. Daniel, primary musician and current producer, plays around on his bass and sometimes a guitar to find musical hooks to build more songs around.

Story behind the song
The opening of the Gospel of John is poetic and cosmic--I had tried various takes of using the words for a lyric. Dan sat down and began to strum this music, and I improvised from my musings, to fit what he played, signed for him to transition--it was very organic, slightly unusual lately.
Lyrics
Was in the beginning Was with God Became flesh And lived with us Stars shine down On this Momentous Night Angels sing down Come turn this fight ...around... Come with good news Turn to me Come bearing reproach Come follow me ...Immanuel God with us... ...Woman graced with child Son of on high... Twelve and Seventy and the World Come follow me Blood and thorny-crown and the cross Come follow me
