Story behind the song
The poem was written in tandem with "Shade's Theme", and was inspired by the making of two leather hats; one white, one black. Ash made the hats and the poems literally climbed out of them during the night. The idea of knots and their breaking comes from personal experience. Somtimes, the feeling of entanglement and knottedness can be disolved, broken or melted by happiness and positivity. The character "Flake" has the benign power to do this.
Lyrics
Through wisps of cloud, I float in timeless trance. In the froth of waves, I play till seas fall still. In snow, I lie and sleep; For I am Flake. Two things I say to you: In the breaking of knots, there darkness is dispelled. Every snow-flake is a tiny cathedral. And light I am upon the air, And light I am to earth, Where here I sit waiting for the tenderness of melting; Wherein I shall unlock my form and trickle out to sea; For I am Flake Copyright 2006 The Mandrake Project
