I have been playing and writing songs for more years than most of you have been alive. I started classical piano when I was 8, 12-string guitar when I was ten, and wrote my first song when I was 16. I am largely self-taught, but have benefitted greatly from the many bands I've played with over the years. I've also been an avid listener of music, and sought to incorporate many different styles into my songwriting. As you will hear, my songs reflect the fact that I've been many places and done many things other than just play music. They have, in the original sense of the word, character.

Story behind the song
I wrote this song right after my break-up with my lover at the tender age of 19 - she was only 16. I decided to record it in Boise many years later. It is the most tender, heartfelt song I've ever written.
Lyrics
Every Time Dan Matheny – In the Year of our Lord 1980 Chorus Every time I see your face, my heart fades away. And every time I love you – you’ve got nothing to say. VI And our love song – written without a pen, Never sung again – I think it’s so. There’s no way I’ll ever know you, Got nothing left to show you. So bearing a memory, Onward I sail. Back to Chorus Interlude (Instrumental Chorus) VII And our love song, That illusive liquid, Flowing out of my hand. There’s no way I’ll ever hold you, Got nothing left to show you. So bearing your memory, Onward I sail. Back to Chorus
