Story behind the song
Commentary: Wild Eagles
Jannie was my girlfriend in my mid-twenties, and we were very close. We had many an adventure together, constantly on the run to new things and new places. Some of our experiences had almost supernatural overtones a€“ which explains the a€˜given second sighta€™ lyric.
I almost married Jannie, but couldna€™t. a€¦ita€™s a long and painful story for me, but I have many fond memories of the times we spent together, like a€˜wild eagles, in the nighta€™.

So free upon the wind
Oh, to take to wing again
Flee with me, my lovely friend
Tonight, with mea€¦ again
Chorus:
Flee in the night
Given youth and second sight
And our love would make it right
a€¦a€¦Tonight
a€¦a€¦Tonight
a€¦a€¦Tonight
a€¦Wild eaglesa€¦ in the night
And only we could take to wing
Fly with burning hearts to bring
To life again, a burning thing
With you, and I, to wing
- Chorus -
Aha€¦ aha€¦ aha€¦
