Flute being played at a man made pond on North Harris College Campus
native american flute
Artist picture
I am E qou'ni Wah'ya I play the Native American Flute, I also sing in the same context. I have been playing for nine years and i have made two unpublished CDs. I play this music because it is apart of my family history. According to my Father and my Grandmother I am descended from Cherokee and Chocktaw tribes. I play because I feel a connection to this world and it's beauty. I play from my heart, My music speaks of nature and life. People that listen find my music soothing, and soft. I worry when I play in public if I am bothering others, yet I have no complaints as of yet only compliments. My hope for those that listen are that for one moment they can have an escape from this busy life on Earth, one can find peace and enjoy a little piece of my heart.

Story behind the song
Theres a man made pond on my college campus and in that pond lives one turtle lovingly named Ertle from Doctor Suess. The pond is there for Biology students to observe living biological systems but anyone on campus can enjoy the beautiful plants, fish, frogs, birds in the trees around and of course the beloved Ertle who eats from your hands and follows you around the pond, I was playing by the pond when she peaked her head up to listen to my live concert of sorts, this was the first time I even noticed her and I have been going to school at this campus since 2004. She attently listened and did not move or retreat under the water until I stopped playing. I think I earned myself my first animal fan.
