Hi, I've been writing songs since I was twelve years old, and recording them since 1985. Roger Cook (of the Cook-Greenaway-Cook songwriting partnership and Blue Mink, etc) once wrote that I have the ability to write a hit single and that he was waiting for one from me. He also said I need to 'lighten up a bit', unquote. F*ck that!

Story behind the song
Rob and I have been jamming this song every Thursday evening for over a year. We took our time laying down the backing tracks, letting the song evolve at its own pace. We deleted an electric piano line, replacing it with an electric rhythm guitar. A week after completing the backing track, we had a barnstorming lyric-writing session and got nowhere for three hours. Then just as I was getting ready to go home, the first line came into my head. Ten minutes later I had the lyric for the first verse, and I wrote the second verse when I got home. The second verse was much harder to write, trying to work out how to bring the song to a conclusion. Four or five hours later I more or less had it, and polished it up the next day. It turned out quite nicely...
