Denver Rap and Hip Hop
Born Santiago Chavez on October 26, 1983, in Denver, Colorado SonnyC was no stranger to success when years of songwriting and practice made him a favorite among both friends and locals. It all started when a cousin of SonnyC’s, producer RUDE, introduced the world of music producing to SonnyC in 1994. Rude began with nothing but a small beat machine but later accumulated enough studio equipment and producing knowledge to get some business going. Local talent acts came and went through the R3P records studio, recording and of course free styling for the fun of it. SonnyC only 11 years old at the time sat and watched anxiously waiting for his turn on the mike to shine. Rude would let him get on the mike periodically but SonnyC felt his voice was to underdeveloped for recording. SonnyC would write songs to beats that Rude would make and present them to him afterwards. Rude was surprised to see the maturity of the content presented in the songs. That is when Rude’s attention shifted more towards SonnyC, giving him more time in the studio in order to one day to hear a better sounding voice and unique rap style. That’s exactly what happened when six years later SonnyC came to the studio with his own style and his amazing ability to record songs with no retakes. “I would get them done on the first try. My primary focus was true story telling in my lyrics and sounding different than the locals” says SonnyC. He knew he was finally ready to go and that’s when the construction of his solo album began in 2004. As the Latin music craze began picking up in the mid 2000’s SonnyC knew there was no better time to debut his Solo Album. It finally came to be on June 2006 with known rap hits such as "Around the World and Temporary Love". His music career is picking up and he will eventually reach his goal of signing with a mainstream record label. He hopes to someday soon collaborate with other known Latin artists who can help him with further development of his style, such as Baby Bash, Frankie J and Fat Joe. “Hey you never know what could happen” Says SonnyC. “What I tell people is, just take time to listen to my music and then you will see.”
