Story behind the song
This song was written some time ago, but the themes are still relevent to today's world. The lyric relates to the crisis in East Timor, circa late 1999. I'm always a bit wary of a cliched anti-war, pro-humanity song. But I think we got this one right. I think it stands as a poignant observation of the situation, and as I said, 10 years on there's still plenty of places in the world where the lyric fits exactly. I've written quite a few piano ballads over the years. They have a hymn-like quality, it's a pattern I've followed here. Intro, all rise, and verse one... Paul Jeffery

Hi Paul. This song is amazing. You're right when you say, you think you got this one right. I love how your passion comes through so strong when you sing your songs.
