Story behind the song
Have you ever experienced the love of God so strong that it “takes your breath away”? Another song says it like this: “…in the presence of perfect love, I am too weak.” I love it when God makes Himself known to us in a way that we realize just how “alive” and full of love he is… that He is the 'Perfect Love' that casts out all fear. I’ve experienced only the smallest taste of his overwhelming love. But this is why I will spend the rest of my life seeking Jesus and His love. Overwhelmed came to us after our band spent an evening leading worship at an all night prayer service. In the midst of really difficult circumstances God was pouring out His love. He spoke to us of restoration, and how much He longs to gather us in His arms and overwhelm us with His love. "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" 1 John 3:1 (Catherine, Christine, Daniel)
