What playing music on the road is really about
singer songwriter acoustic guitars
It will always make sense if you don't think about it too much.
I've been writing, recording and performing music for longer than I care to admit. Let's just say 20-25 years... give or take... as the crow flies. In the studio I do about everything except drums. I'm not 'great' at anything, just 'pretty good' at a lot of different things. I currently front 7 different line ups and outfits of various shapes and sizes and that keeps me playing pretty much year around. I can scale it down for budget-gigs and I can expand it out for the 'Big Show'. Current Acts: 1. SOLO- Louie McNeal (Acoustic Guitar and Vocal) 2. DUO 1- Fitzpatrick/ McNeal (2 Acoustic Guitars and 2 Vocals) 3. DUO 2 - Mc2 (Acoustic Guitar, Bass and 2 Vocals) 4. TRIO 1. - Acousticats (2 Acoustic Guitars, Upright Bass and 3 Vocals) 5. TRIO 2. - Hard Edits (Electric Guitar, Bass, Drums and 3 vocals 6. TRIO 3. - LTC (2 Acoustic Guitars, Percussion and 3 vocals) 7. QUARTET- Long Time Coming (Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Bass, Drums and 4 Vocals) [Though the majority of these bands and acts primarily focus on genre specific cover material, they are all capable of performing our impressive catalog of original compositions, when the opportunity presents itself.] I have recorded and produced 9 of my own albums (most available here on this site) and I have produced countless other acts and performers throughout my region. I love collaborating on songwriting. Some of my more accessible and popular tracks are ones where I worked with a collaborator. Music is my life. I sacrificed a LOT to be able to do it on my own terms and be happy about it. There are easier ways to go, but I prefer the more challenging aspects of writing, recording and performing my music. I really like the phrase, "A calm and easy ocean will make a lousy sailor out of you." Don't know who said it, but I seem to live by it.

Story behind the song
A song about the 'glamorous' life of a touring club band.
Lyrics
Well, the manager said: "Tough luck kid, But we've decided to go with Karaoke instead." "Things didn't work out quite the way we had planned, Better luck next time, hey I dig your band." And it's been so long since we've caught a break. Makes a man wonder exactly what it's going to take. But the jokes on them. There's nothing left to give. It's a great way to die, but it ain't no way to live. Chorus: Still, we pack it all up, and tear it all down. load up the truck, then it's off to another town. because the worst night playing, is still more fun, than The best honest day's work that we've ever done. Yeah, the PA speakers are only on loan. Nobody's really sure what anybody else owns. Playing for peanuts, food and drinks Sleeping in the truck, and bathing in the sinks But that's life on the road in a three-man band. And nobody's family gives one good goddamn. It's not about art, fortune or fame. It's all about the girls who remember your name. (Chorus) (Lead break) (Chorus)
