Armed am I in shining mail
Banner waving grand
Seven years we went to war
To win the Holy Land
They say a new world lies beyond
Where bonnie songbird sings
The sky is traversed here and there
By graceful men with wings
A lass as fair as ever lived
Holds her newborn child
A woman barely twenty three
Sadly does she smile
Oh wait for me til raging wind
Blows yonder tower down
Lions meek and gentle play
And heather turns to brown
Seek the palmer look into
The windows in his eyes
Will honor or distress prevail
Ask him to advise
Merry cheeks are dyed with pale
Veiled when I'm gone
Ban your sorrow to the garden
Cast it to a swan
Orchard grows in yonder field
In midst of twisted thorns
Blossoms fading in the air
At last it grows no more
