Story behind the song
A piece of my music that tells the story from the perspective of the person in subject, a violent man who craves with remorse. Never does he get an opportunity for forgiveness, he's taken things too far too early in his life to warrant forgiveness anyway, so he gives in to the idea of ending it all. That fails miserably as well and all there is left is the memories. Ah them memories. By the way, this whole idea was put to me by a young man who adamantly needed me to hear his cry for help in the way he rapped this idea to me. Shane you need to pay attention to how I put this for you because there are plenty out there just like me. We have no out, no way of expressing our rotten, self created lot in life. By you actually taking this seed and write and record this song idea, you just might help one person. How could I say no to that. So I watched Gary Olson do his Rap in front of me and then do it again. After I did a little try at it, but when I got home in my studio I nailed right away. At least in my eyes and that's my story of this song. The narration by the way is all mine and the not telling bull sh** and be true to yourself at least is a good idea for tryimg to be on the straight and narrow...
Lyrics
Be True To Yourself 2004 A Real Gangsters Story By: Shane SSS B OBrien, Ken Olson (Spoken Introduction) I Couldnt Believe My Eyes One Night, When I Was Strolling Down the Hood I scene a gangster I Stopped By To Say Hi And He Said Hey Hommie". What Are You Doing In This Neighborhood? (Im Being True To Myself) I turned around and took a quick glance, and I seen a young man bout eight years old Riding down the street with a bicycle with something bulging out of the back of his shirt, Starrin down the hood, looking at every alley and doorway and across the street in the park, I seen him lookin at another young man, about the same kind of guy. Verse 1. I Feel Like A Martian From Outer Space, I Feel, As if I Dont Belong In This Place. Ive Got Problems From My Feet Up To My Head, But All I Really Think About Is If I Were Dead. I Feel Lost, Confused, Disengaged, I Feel As Though My Head Is Screamin In A Rage. You Cant Think About Suicide In These Days, Because Ive Tried To Commit It, and In so Many Ways. Everyone Stops Me, I Dont Know Why. All I Really Want To Do Is Lay Back And Die. Ive Done Crystal, Coke, Even Speed, Alcohol Pot And Lsd, Uppers, Downers And Around The Clock Counters, But Nothin Ive Tried, Seems To Make Me Die. Ive Tried Russian Roulette, But That Didnt Work, Because The Person That Shot Himself Is One Big F*** in Jerk. I Know You Dont Believe Me, But This Is True, Give Me A Gun, Ill Show You. I Go Around the world Saying, F*** This World , Then I Do A Drug And It Takes Me For A Whirl. And The Question That Always Comes To Mind, Why Be Nice, Why Do Something Kind. Then I Ask Myself The Question Why? And All I Ever Come Up With, Is That Wanna Die . (Spoken Conclusion) Then to my surprise, I turned around and I saw across the street in that park that little eight-year-old child, shoot another young man with his gun. A generation lost baby, lost in its own self. Nobody else will. You need to be found baby. You need to be found. Be True To Yourself, Be True To Yourself, Tells The Truth, Tell The Truth.
