Heart and Hammer came together as a result of Julianna and Barry being married on September 16, 2001. Both being guitar players, performers, and songwriters, it was as natural as falling off a log. The CD, Time Flies, was produced by both of us, and includes the talents of Carl Smith (percussion), Skip Parente (fiddle), Kerry Williams (mandolin), John Carter (pedal steel), Mark Frethem (electric bass), Skip VonKuske (cello), Rick Hulett (acoustic guitar, electric bass), Jenny Conlee (accordian), and Chayne Williams (harmony vocals).

Lyrics
If Love Were Sand If love were sand There’d be no ever after And time would sift from hand to hand The wind would blow And lift us with its laughter Building drifts Mending rifts Oh, if love were sand If love were stone We’d gather half a mountain Our hearts would yearn for half a mountain more The rivers would flow, and smooth away our doubting Building drifts Mending rifts Oh, if love were a stone But love’s not stone And love’s not sand It’s heart and hammer Woman and man Building drifts Mending rifts Oh, if love were stone If love were stone If love were sand If love were sand If love were sand
