in this song the clear influence of many good jazz guitarists is to be mentioned
Story behind the song
It was when I was young and I went to church, I felt alone, I found it weird that communists did not want us to be believers so I did that by protest and my strong belief helped me. And once I have met a wonderful little girl of my age, she was just 8 years old and i was maybe 9. And I fell in love with her, and from this moment on I was searching for Jesus and looking for her. This combination of higher love in my model of life Jesus and a little girl made me strong and consistent in life.
Lyrics
Martha (Music & Lyrics Peter Kosta copyright)
Oh, Martha, why didn’t you see our chances coming
But I always told you we could make it one more time
Oh girl, why didn’t you see the sign
There’s a sign on the wall
It gives you all that you believed in
The sign of a cross with the picture
of Jesus
Oh, Martha
Just take the chance, you know you’ll always
Will be blessed With love
And you know you’ll be always
blessed with love
And you’ll be kissed by women you loved
But mate, don’ you ever forget
That it is HIM who made the only sign in heaven
Jesus Christ
And I was always believing in the sign
In the wall, oh girl don’t you believe me anymore?
Oh, Martha, you were the little girl
Who used to go to Sunday school
And whom I met when I felt alone
In the Church of Sainte Martha
