IT'S HALLOWEEN - Live Acoustic
RECORDING=ACOUSTIC DEMO I wrote this Halloween song intending it to be for children but not too simplistic. I tried to convey the spirit of the holiday by going back and forth between a spooky part and a fun/safe part.
Soulful Beach Groove music following in the footsteps of Van Morrison, Eva Cassidy, Bill Withers, Jack Johnson, Elton John and Sting... with a French twist!
Story behind the song
Imagine an adult or child taking a little kid trick-or-treating for the first time, and explaining Halloween to them.
The song starts with the sounds of a haunted house then goes back and forth between 2 aspects of the holiday:
1. Spooky
2. Fun and safe
This is a live acoustic recording made the day after writing the song. I hope to make a studio recording in the future.
Lyrics
Haunted house sounds (witch laugh/creaking/boo/howl/low monster voice: “come here, little one, I won’t hurt you… much!,”etc…)
It’s Halloween, the scariest time of the year
Monsters and witches
Pirates and princesses
Are roaming the street
Looking for something to eat
On Halloween, your punishment will be severe
If you dare to ignore
That knock on your door
Better hand out the sweets
When they yell out “Trick or Treat”
The pumpkin is carved
Spiders are hanging in the windows
In the neighbors’ yard
A skeleton rattles his bones
I’ve got a costume
That’s easily the best you’ve ever seen
By the light of the moon
I’ll be going out: tonight is Halloween
It’s Halloween, the scariest time of the year, etc…
Go through a corn maze
Visit a creepy haunted mansion
But don’t be afraid:
It’s not for real, only spooky fun
You can’t recognize your friends
Everybody’s looking so weird
Adults and little kids are dressed up like a teen
‘Cause it’s Halloween, the scariest time of the year, etc…
(Ending)
‘Cause it’s Halloween, the scariest time… of the year!
It’s the scariest time… of the year!
