walk a paved path
as it turns to dirt
find ourselves lost
in old worlds of hurt
between life and less
as it cries and sings
where neither evil nor good
changes a thing ...
pistol and stamen
all the plants have or know
from seed to flower, to seed
the climax of their growth
pistol and stamen
a world fresh in delights
for some it is an ending
some sleep beneath leaves and white
walk a gravel path
high above the rivers edge
so many colours
the scent of old deaths
the earth so proclaims
in colours so still
for a day or an hour
or as time wills
walk a dirt path
as it turns to dust
colours detailed
in the scent of ancient musks
within the breeze
colours as they're seen
primary hues denied
the orange, the brown, the green
pistol and stamen
as seeds upon the ground
the leaves are falling
to blanket them in their slumber
or their shroud
not long ago
or so Autumn dreamed
creating an art show
with the beauty of her scenes
not long ago
this pastel pallete queen
with frost brush, pencilled shades of cold
painted worlds in Autumn dreams
sometime ago
lost in those old dreams
the world of what we know
became the world of our beliefs
sometime ago
choosing to let go or even keep
changed the world we've known
the good, the bad and might have been
once long ago
or so it would seem
too fast our time would flow
over seasons and their scenes
and all our lives
these dreams we shall keep
closing our eyes
and dreaming Autumn dreams
