Story behind the song
Wrote the song to describe being away from home along time and traveling back with all the anticipation of finally touching down at the airport. Funny when you travel, time expands and you can feel like you are a million miles away. Even the trip from the airport to your front door seems like hours.
Lyrics
In the shadows I can see you,
The light reflecting from your hair
But when I reach out to hold you,
I awake, and your not there
It's early morning and I've caught my flight,
Seems like a million miles away
But I will be there by the morning light, and together we'll slip away
CHORUS
I'm a million miles away from you
By the morning light, my dreams will come true
I'm a million miles away from you
And it drives me crazy, the things that you do
It's after midnight, about to loose my mind,
My next connection, it's on time
It's 1 a.m. and I'm drifting off to sleep,
Must be the engines as they whine
The sun is streaming thru my window,
Thru clouds of yellow, red and gold
I see the patchwork of the fields down below,
When I touch down,
I'm headin' for home
BRIDGE
Ridin' on silver wings, takin' me home
To the one I love, she waits all alone
In the shadows I can see you,
The light reflecting from your hair
And when I reach out to hold you,
You awake and hold me near
