Hi, my name is Julie Chow, and I am a singer-songwriter who is currently based in San Francisco, California. I have released four self-produced albums: When Desires Collide (in 2001), The Stars Shine Bright Tonight (in 2002), Momentarily Disreplaced (in 2003) and Wheel of Fortune (Narcissus & the Echo) (2004). Story behind the song
Inspired by the movie Picture Perfect with Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Bacon, "Maybe We're In Love" touched upon one of the lighter, more whimsical sides of Desires. An early interlude actually touched upon the film on which the song was based, with the lines that went, "Some things turn out quite unexpected/It was picture perfect, then I thought, 'Forget it.'" Those two lines were indeed forgotten about as the song was developed. Returning once again to the idea of love and reciprocation, "Maybe We're In Love" is like the scenario that would have taken place had the narrator from "King Of My World" had been one step ahead of the game. Person A is aware of Person B's affection and first feels unable to reciprocate, but then realizes otherwise. Whether or not they are too late upon their declaration, it isn't evident, but the song suggests not.
