Story behind the song
This song was written with one audience in mind - all those who have good intentions but whose feelings have been unrequited at one point or the other. This song is about knowing and recognizing the good in other people, wanting to be good to those people, but being unable to, for some odd reason. It's about, as the lyrics state, having words to say, but not being able to convey. It's about desperation and frustration and desire to communicate. It's kind of a selfish song, telling the audience to direct the attention upon the speaker rather than themselves. But, maybe the speaker has been wanting to say something for a while now. Maybe they are trying to justify their actions towards the other person. Or maybe they really have nothing to say. They only want others to think that they do.
Lyrics
What if I don't want to go What if I want to say no What then, what then, what then Would it be my fault again What if I have words to say But I just cannot convey So then, so then, so then Maybe I don't comprehend What if I had things to say to you But you would think me rude What if you had things to say to me But I could not face you Maybe we are both deceived But I dare not think that way Has this notion preconceived Led us both astray? What if I cannot commit To the flame so brightly lit 'Til then, 'til then, 'til then Would you ask me why and when
