Story behind the song
About having a mad infatuation with somebody, and wanting to wash yourself clean of the object of your affection amid the feelings of heartbreak. This is without a doubt the fastest song I ever wrote. I sat down at a keyboard one morning in 1985 when I was still living with my parents, and wrote this entire song in 20, 30 minutes tops. Other than changing the key of the song and the solo instruments [it went from a piano, to a tenor sax(!), then finally to the nylon classical guitar solo you hear on this recording], nothing has changed!
