Okay, okay, so I'm just one guy. But in the studio, I'm an entire band. I play electric and 6 & 12 string acoustic guitars, mandolin, bass, keyboards, and drums plus do all the vocals and write all the music. I'm self taught and don't read music except for maybe chord charts. Well maybe not entirely self taught-mom got me started since she was a guitarist/mandolinist herself. But she played by ear too so guess that's where I got it. Not that I didn't do my time in various bands. The last, Legacy, was a full time road band until 1983 when I finally got to a space in my life where I told myself there's got to be a better way than just playing covers for a living. And then I found digital recording. Way cool...........

Story behind the song
After seeing a late night show of a JT concert on TV, I sat down and wrote this song for him. After all these years tha man is still making great music and has created a legacy that will never be forgotten. From the early days of Mud Slide Slim to present, the man is a virtual music machine. I only hope when I grow older that I will be half as prolific as he is now!
Lyrics
I was watching JT on the late night TV He was singing as I sipped a beer I remember when Baby James used to have hair and you couldn't hardly see his ears There's a bright shiny space right on top of his head Reminds me of how long it's been So I'm thinkin' back to Mud Slide Slim How passing time might be a man's best friend He's old like me and still singin' the songs we all want to hear He's gettin' old like me And I'm still singing along instaed of just sitting here. There's something about us as we age Like fine wine we hope we're gettin' better Doesn't matter that we don't see things like we once did The long road helps us see things a little clearer As long as we play and try to live in today The years will come to treat us fine eben though the world's not now what we used to know In the music we can still make it rhyme "Cause he's old like me And still writing those songs we all want to hear Yes he's old like me And I'm still singing along intead of just sitting here wasting away.....
