Story behind the song
A song about my Dad who followed a unwavering Christian code and was mentor, friend, and teacher to all, and if you needed a shirt you would have gotten his if it was the last one he had.
Lyrics
And my daddy said, and my daddy led When I was little lad my daddy says to me Its probably time we did a talk about the birds and bees The bees go on a bout their work and birds don’t have a care So thank the Lord for giving us their lessons we can share And as I grew, he kept me true It ain’t about just money or how much you can make You’ve need to learn that lifes long road requires give and take So do save for a rainy day but lend a helpin hand Remembering it’s no use to you up in God’s promised land And my daddy was, and my daddy did Bridge My daddy stayed and he loved my mom My daddy worked though the day was long My daddy lived the chosen way And ask the Lord to guide his day (Guitar solo) And he raised a man with a guiding hand Be sure you know if your wrastlin with a gator or a bear Make sure and hold your children tight we’re short on love out there Be sure to know to run or fight and when to make a stand And when to draw that final line so clearly in the sand And my daddy would and my daddy could Bridge 2 And he always knew the wrong from right He never missed a kiss good night And he always showed the better way The answers there so stop and pray And my daddy said and my daddy led I still recall his final words he clearly spoke me I’m sure he stands at heavens gate and watches lovingly He’d always give a knowing nod so you where you stood “Never see some shades of gray just know you’re doing good.” (slow) That was my Dad
