This starts with a very John Lennon "Woman"- like opening for a few bars. Then he went one way and these songwriters went another.

My band is "me" with more than a little help from my lyricist, Tony Shears, on the songwriting front. Our songs might not be typical of today's market but neither are they antiquated, hence the Adult Contemporary title. This particular album "Remnants Of A Cavernous Boot" is a reference to our seventies band "Cavernous Boot" which consisted of Tony and myself along with the world's best guitarist Dave Draper and our seriously deranged drummer Steve Allen who tried vainly to keep us in line with his beat. We mainly played the North London pubs and clubs at the time and had as much work as we wanted, so we couldn't have been that bad. Most tracks on this album are new songs that we wrote last year, some are melody written for lyric, some are lyric put to a melody and a couple are re-writes of our original songs being performed 40 years ago. It's a very mixed bag which I hope you'll find as enjoyable to listen to as it was to record.

Story behind the song
The idea for "When You Go" came from a couple of lines penned by a songwriting friend who has a preference for lyrics of a more downbeat nature. The sombre tone was maintained to complete a message for all ladies: "If you're sure you can let him down, then let him down very gently"
Lyrics
Walks around, sitting down, lays down on the floor Seeing lies, in your eyes, somehow knows What do you suppose? What do you? You talk your way round, you talk your way Wants to weep, cannot sleep, knows it won’t be long Thinking why, you won’t try, words to share Did you ever care? Did you ever? Feelings run so deep, the feelings run This happens every day, I’m certain you know There’s not an easy way, to leave him and go If you say this to him, what will he do today? If you say this to him, what will he do? When you go, when you go In his mind, so unkind, so much time to lose Torn apart, broken heart, closing door He came through before He came through But maybe not this time, but maybe not
